Permanent Makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, micro pigmentation, or Semi-Permanent Makeup, is a procedure that implants a natural looking colored pigment into a very shallow layer beneath the epidermis to create a look of freshly applied makeup that is waterproof and smudge-proof, and will not wear off.
This state-of-the-art technique is medically proven and specifically designed to be safe.
The technique can also be used to camouflage scars and stretch marks. It can also create the look of a freshly shaved head, or add volume to thinning hair.

Ombré brows is a brow style that uses ombré shading, a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that uses a small precision machine to place extremely thin dots of pigment into the skin. The saturation pattern creates an ombré effect, with the heads of the brows lighter, and the tails gradually darker.
Powder brows give a more dramatic look than with Microblading, with a shade being created underneath the natural hairs. The powdery effect resembles the look of wearing makeup, and it can be as subtle or as obvious as you like.
At Maya Permanent Makeup we use a very precise instrument with nano needles that just barely penetrate the skin, delicately depositing ink under the surface. Your eyebrows will look fuller and more defined. Nanobladed brows are friendly for all skin types, and will last for between one and three years depending on your lifestyle and skin type.
If you desire more fullness or definition to your eyebrows, wish to wake up with beautiful brows and eliminate the daily maintenance, or suffer from alopecia, then this is the permanent makeup procedure for you.
Microblading uses a manual blade for drawing on hair-like strokes that can modify, enhance, or re-create the arch of a brow. The final result can do wonders to your look, and give an overall younger appearance, but mature skin has different properties that need to be treated in a certain way. That means microblading may not always be a good option for mature clients.
Older skin is generally quite thin, and the fine lines can blur the strokes, so microblading may cause permanent scarring due its manual technique and can give unsatisfactory results. The individual strokes can become a blurry mess.
For those reasons, here at Maya Permanent Makeup we never use a manual blade on eyebrows. We use a very precise instrument with nano needles that just barely penetrate the skin, delicately depositing ink under the surface. Your eyebrows will look fuller and more defined. Nanobladed brows are friendly for all skin types, heal more quickly than microbladed brows, and will last for between 18 months to 3 years depending on your lifestyle and skin type.
Q-Lips™ is a breakthrough permanent makeup technique created and trademarked by the Maya Permanent Makeup Clinic. It is a minimally invasive method of applying a semi-permanent color to lips with very little or no pain, bleeding, or swelling. It can be performed without the use of any numbing agents, which makes for a less time consuming, more relaxed, and safer procedure.
The Q-Lips™ technique has a minimal effect on the sensitivity of your lips, and can also quicken the healing process. Post procedure, your lips are soft, plump, and moist, and will reveal a new skin approximately 24-42 hours after the procedure. Unlike other permanent makeup lip procedures, most individuals heal with virtually no scabbing or extreme peeling.
Get Q-Lips™ and you can have the appearance of fuller lips without the need for repeated and costly injections. The technique is also very effective at covering Fordyce spots.
With Q-Lips™ there is no downtime, and the results can be truly amazing.

Some people experience some discomfort, while others experience none. It varies according to each individual’s pain threshold, and the procedure being performed. There are several methods available to help with discomfort management, including the Q-Lips™ technique and various topical anesthetics. Your technician will discuss the best options for you to ensure a comfortable experience.
The initial lips or brow procedure will usually take about 2 to 2.5 hours. Eye or lip liner procedures about 1.5 to 2 hours. There are records to establish, photos to take, desired style and color to discuss, the carefully crafted procedure itself, and then the aftercare requirements to go over.
Follow up or color refresher procedures typically require much less time.
Permanent makeup procedures are a process, and a follow-up to the initial procedure will need to be scheduled. Oftentimes the permanent makeup color is not perfect after the initial procedure heals. Any required detail work to the original procedure should be performed no sooner than four weeks after the original visit.
The typical minimum standard for follow-up work on lip procedures is six weeks, due to their very delicate nature. At the Maya Permanent Makeup Clinic we use the Q-Lips™ technique, which greatly reduces healing time, so that follow up detail work can be performed just four weeks later.
These time frames may vary somewhat depending on the health profile, skin type, and age of the client.
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive treatment that uses micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles that resemble a shaved head. SMP can also be done to help thicken and restore the look of fuller hair, which is a great solution for many women with low hair density and diffuse thinning.
SMP can also be used to cover scars on the scalp, or just to restore your hairline.
The look can be so realistic that most people will only know you've had SMP if you choose to tell them.
Patients receive 2 to 3 treatments spaced out 10-14 days between each session, followed by a touch up every 4-6 years, if needed. SMP requires little to no continued maintenance and carries no daily or strict lifestyle restrictions.
Scar and Stretch Mark Camouflage uses specialized nano needles to infuse custom color into your scars or stretch marks, helping them blend seamlessly with your surrounding skin.
We match the pigments to your unique skin tones, significantly reducing the visibility of scars or stretch marks. This technique is effective for various types of scars, burns, stretch marks, and skin conditions like vitiligo.
Pricing of permanent makeup procedures varies quite a bit depending on several factors.
• Training, experience, professionalism, and expertise of the technician
• Location and quality of the facility where procedures are performed
• Whether or not the necessary follow-up visit is included in the price*
• Proper safety and sterilization protocols being followed
• The quality of pigments and precision of clinical equipment being used
• Amount of one-to-one time devoted to the clients
Not all technicians have been adequately trained, have enough talent and experience, are using top quality pigments and high-end precision equipment, or have proper procedures in place. Permanent makeup is long lasting, and you just cannot afford to go for the cheapest price when your looks are being changed for years. Sadly, many individuals have decided to “price shop”, or failed to do proper due diligence, and lived to regret it. A good portion of our business involves correcting mistakes done previously by other PMU technicians.
No matter who you choose to use for your permanent makeup procedure, be sure to check them out thoroughly. You'll be glad you did.
* Many PMU businesses advertise the cost without including the necessary touch up procedure and after care products. Our prices are all inclusive. Permanent makeup is a process, and that process cannot be completed without a touch up session.
The degree of “permanency” will vary with each individual depending on a person’s own body chemistry (oily or dry skin can affect how the pigment is absorbed and retained), how much your skin naturally exfoliates, exposure to the sun and chlorine, topical products applied to the skin, and the amount of care taken to maintain the look.
With any colorant or pigment in general, fading does occur, requiring periodic color refreshing to maintain the look.
A brow refresh is usually recommended between 16-24 months after the initial procedure. Lips and eyeliner at 2-3 years. Keep an eye on how things are looking and book a touch-up when you notice significant fading or color changes.
